Aims

  1. to study biblical contexts for couple’s considerate attitudes in marital responsibilities,

  2. to study factors responsible for disagreement in household responsibilities and

  3. to discuss the best way couples can complement each other in times of inconvenience in their household duties

Introduction

Husband and wife having consideration for one another in their duty is an essential attitude towards sharing of household responsibilities. This is about Flexibility in supporting each other on the choice of duty. For example, the wife had agreed to be responsible for the toiletries, however, procurement is delayed because of salary delay; at this point, the wife husband should improvise. The husband is responsible for payment of school fees, yet there is financial challenge that is delaying, the wife can also come in to assist. This means, there should be flexibility in the readiness to assume the duty of each other whenever the need arises. The Bible today encourages wives to respect their husbands and that husbands should live with their wives in a way that reflects intelligence and compassion, treating them with respect and dignity.

The couple must consider themselves and empathise with each other when it is not convenient to attend to each other’s commitment in their household responsibility.
